Busy as a bee...

at 9:14 PM

Hello friends!

Twinkie here, sorry it’s been awhile but I have been a busy little social butterfly. I went to a friend’s birthday party, actually two birthdays, here is a picture of my friends Doodle and Party. We had a hair raising, well maybe not too much hair, let’s say barking good time! Got all dressed up, ate too much cake, dog cake of course and played til we couldn’t lift another paw, it was great!

The quilt shop is having fun too. Michelle is busy making the next block of the month, hopefully it will be ready to unveil this coming Saturday at Sew Sweet Shoppe. We’ve had a great time choosing all the fabrics and putting it all together. The fabric choices are exclusive to The Quilt Studio and I helped pick them out, OK well maybe not, I’m just a dog.

We are expanding the shop a little, I need more room for toys and dog beds and maybe mom needs a little more room too. We hope to have it all done in time for shophop in April. I can’t wait to see all the new friends visiting the shop! Hope to meet you too!

A Little P.S. to my facebook friends, glad to have you onboard!

Thanks for tuning in!

Time to Organize...

at 8:38 PM
Hi this is Twinkie. Friend, companion and mom’s little helper at The Quilt Studio. Mom and I have been very busy reorganizing both her sewing room at home and at the shop. These cold winter days are a good time to dig deep into that sewing room to clean, reorganize and find just exactly what might be stashed away we forgot about. Mom  found some extra fabric at the shop to donate to the quilt guild and some s extra fabric at home to donate to the quilt ladies at church.

But we still took time out to drive to St. Paul Minnesota last weekend to the dog show. It was cold but they had less snow than we had in Omaha. I got a reserve out of 15, not too shabby, thank you very much! I think I must be a pretty cute little thing... I kept hearing that a lot.

Mom said to tell you we are on the shop hop in Nebraska this year. We can’t wait to see all of our fans of The Quilt Studio. The dates are April 15th-25th. Shop hop bags will be here after February 1st. We will have block kits for the shop hop quilt, treats, open late hours for your shopping convenience and the fifth Saturday of every month you will get a 20% discount with your shop hop bag.

Now back to me, here are just a few of my candid shots taken by mom and Michelle.

See you soon,

Having a great time at home...

at 5:31 PM
Ah… Blizzard, I heard mom say that word we must be going to Dairy Queen. I can’t wait! I love their chicken strips!

Now as far as the white stuff, we just keep getting more and more. It looks so pretty from inside! Mom has been home for a couple of days now cleaning and straightening her sewing room. I have been helping her by begging for treats I know when she needs a break you see.

She has been reading the book “Mastering The Art Of French Cooking” by Julia Child she got it along with the DVD Julie and Julia, we watched it together. I would highly recommend them both! But then I’m just a dog.

At the shop we are looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday the 2nd of January for the Sew Sweet Shoppe Club and also the Block of the Month will be ready. We now have a selection of embroidery thread, patterns and hoops, I’m sure some of you did it as a child and now it’s coming back in popularity.

Hope to see you soon, time for my nap :)

Livin the good life....

at 8:49 AM
Having so much fun today!! Helped mom shred some leftover batting she left on the floor, chewed up the spool of the thread she thought she was missing and barked feverously at a squirrel outside, what could be better than that! I’m snowed in but having the time of my life!

Enough about me, (maybe). Mom is working on a braided Go Big Red quilt for a class at the shop. Joy is working on the next Sew Sweet Shoppe sample, Renee is working on a couple of new kit samples and Michelle is feverishly making some surprise Christmas presents, I can’t tell you what they are!! We will have a new block of the month quilt, again exclusively to The Quilt Studio in the spring.

I hope Santa is reading my blog I could use a squeaker toy, my old one mysteriously lost the squeaker from inside., I know I have been a good girl this year, except for a few little things,(everyday). But no matter  my family loves me and will tell Santa I was good. :)

SNOW DAY!

at 8:37 AM
More white stuff!!! I still can’t figure out what this crazy stuff is. Doesn’t taste like much. At first I thought it was the flour mom has been baking with lately but too cold for that. Santa must have left the freezer door open at the huge north pole I’ve heard of. Hope he still can get to my house, I need some new toys!

The quilt shop has been very busy lately with all the quilting for Christmas. We love seeing all the quilts come in and how beautiful and different they all are. Mom says Thanks to all our customers in the past year, we are grateful for your business.

In case you don’t know, the new class schedule is out and can be picked up at the store. It’s loaded with lots of new classes for all ages. It can also be seen on the website in the events section.

I must tell you we took a trip to St Cloud Minnesota last weekend, it was lots of fun. Mom and Michelle went to visit a quilt shop, Grubers, they loved it, big store with lots of cool batiks, Kaffe, and bags, if you ever get to St. Cloud you should go there. We got lots of great new ideas for our store, always on the lookout for new patterns, books and fabric!. I was at the dog show, showing off and got a reserve to a four point major, whatever that is, I just go for the treats.

Well better go and start shoveling, (not).

Happy Thanksgiving!!

at 8:38 PM
Wow!!!! This has been a busy month for Mom and me (Twinkie Pie).  First we started the Christmas baking,  the best was a recipe for peanut butter brownies made from scratch, MMMM…, I could only smell them but I just know they were great!

Next we have been busy sewing Christmas presents for Santa. (I’m one of his elves you know) but don’t tell anyone. Shhhh..  Joy had some great ideas for Christmas presents, a wine bag out of two fat quarters, napkins with a cool way to finish the binding, kitchen towels out of border prints and more, that lady is just full of wonderful ideas! I help Mom with her sewing by chewing on the empty thread spools for her, tearing up the batting she forgot on the floor and picking up pins, she loves when I help her!

Then we had a demo at Braided River Quilters, Jeanne demonstrated an easy table runner out of border fabric, it is really cool! Lots of great friends there!

We have some great new Kaffe Fassett prints in the store, she just put them on the website while I was busy sneaking next door to see who was over there.  I love playing hide and seek and I’m certain Mom loves it too cause she always looks so thrilled to see me!

Our class schedule for January-March is almost ready to print, we have loaded the boring cold months with lots of new classes for all our friends, I can’t wait to help!

Well I better go now, I need a snack.

To Market, to market....

at 1:57 PM
Hello again, this is Twinkie... Glad you tuned in!! Boy this has been a busy month for Mom and me!  Mom just returned from the Quilt Market in Houston.  She said she couldn't believe all the great new patterns and fabric she found (no toys were brought home for Twinkie though!!) but I was so glad to see her so it was ok.  She said she ordered lots of stuff for the shop... lots and lots of Batiks, new Kaffe Fasset fabrics, some Michael Miller, and the beautiful brand new Amy Butler line.... can't wait to paw through those boxes when they come in!!! The highlight from her trip was the ride back to the airport with Mark Lipinski from the Quilters Home magazine, not sure who that is, but I figure you guys would know.  Mom said he was a riot and very insightful in his discussion on how the industry is going.    He has a blog just like me... check his blog out at http://marklipinskisblog.wordpress.com/  Here are a couple of Mom's favorite booths!

So while Mom was off meeting all her favorite designers, I stayed with Michelle.  I'm glad I didn't have to get on one of those big bird in the sky cars... been there, done that... it ain't easy squishing under those seats!  We had lots of fun playing in the white stuff, Michelle made me bundle up since it was so chilly!! Here's a picture of me and my friends...

Back to shop news.... Mom is busy getting ready for our booth at the Cottonwood Quilt Show on October 23rd and 24th.  She can't wait to see all her quilty friends there!!  We also have our Sew Sweet Shop coming up on November 7th!! Mark those calendars!  Come check out some of the awesome new stuff Mom brought home from Market, plus some yummy treats as always!

A very busy weekend...

at 8:52 PM

Hello dear friends in the quilting world. Just letting you know what is happening in my world and at The Quilt Studio.

Last weekend Mom, Michelle and Renee took a road trip to vend at Threads Across Nebraska. Mom said it was  a totally fun weekend meeting many new quilters and seeing all the lovely quilts on display, many of which were made by our wonderful friends here at The Quilt Studio. Me, I spent the weekend with Alex, he took very good care of me, taking me outside (with my favorite hoody on), watching TV (a dog show) and letting me chew on a few things I found laying around the house (his shoes).  We, I mean I, had fun!
Jeanne was taking care of the shop in the meantime, it was quite a job to handle all by herself, but no problem for her. She was happy to see all our Sew Sweet Shoppe friends and discussed with them the hour glass block and how it can be used in different ways. She also talked about sizing and what a benefit it is to use before cutting your piecing.

This weekend Mom and Renee are on the road again to the Houston Quilt Market, I think that’s where mom looks for new treats and clothes for me but maybe I’m confusing it with PetSmarket. Anyway I’m staying home with Michelle to help her fold fat quarters for the next vending show at Cottonwood Quilt Guild.  Joy was on vacation last week in Hawaii, I’m not sure where that is but Michelle went there on her honeymoon and brought me back a new hula skirt, very chic! We missed Joy and glad she is back home.
Mom said to tell you there are many new Kaffe fabrics in the store and also his new book, “Romance," lots of beautiful new ideas in this book, we will be making a few.
Got to go for now, it’s naptime.

Welcome to my blog

at 12:34 PM
Hi! My name is Twinkie, I am a Chinese Crested dog and I work at The Quilt Studio.  I am in charge of Public Relations at the shop and my boss (Mom) has asked me start this blog.  I will do my best to keep all of my quilter friends informed on everything new at The Quilt Studio and maybe I can sneak in a little about myself - after all I live a very busy life what with my dog showing and all. I travel with my mom and Michelle to all the coolest dog shows where I get to strut my stuff!  It takes a lot of work to look beautiful, I might let you know some of my beauty secrets later.

...now back to my job.  We have a lot of new things happening at the shop.  We are in the process of putting up a calendar of our classes on the website to make it easier for you to see what is coming up.  We are also busy cutting up fat quarters and kits for the upcoming quilt show in Grand Island, Threads Across Nebraska. It is the Nebraska Quilt Guild show and vendor mall on October 2nd and 3rd. I can't go, but I am sure I will find something to get into at home while they are gone. Next, Mom and Renee (I really like Renee, she is always happy to see me!) are going to Houston to check out the latest and greatest quilt fabrics and patterns, Mom has promised to bring me back something cool. Thats all I have for now, I need to get back to greeting people at the door.
